In her series WWM Trish Morrissey (born 1967 in Dublin, living in London) portrays women of different age, colour and
social background in a classical way of close-ups, but something in their appearance is disturbing: they all have a moustache.
This fact is even more irritating as all the women are styled in a typical feminin way with long hair and make-up.
These portraits show that womenliness is a sort of adaption to norms that define femininity as the opposite of masculinity:
Men have beards so women are not allowed to. The photographs of Trish Morrissey make aware that beards are a natural
element of the appearance of women and no abnormal phenomenon.
